Three hundred and sixty years of the Zhang Xiaoquan (张小泉) scissor-making tradition, carried into modern international trade by Hangzhou Zhang Xiaoquan Scissors Store.
Since 1663
In 1663, craftsman Zhang Xiaoquan set up his forge in Hangzhou, laying the foundation for what would become China's most celebrated scissor-making tradition. The Dajing Lane district — where our roots lie — grew into the heart of this craft, its workshops famous throughout the country for blades that stayed sharp and lasted generations.
The standards set here — careful steel selection, patient grinding, honest workmanship — became the benchmark for Chinese cutting tools, and they remain the benchmark we hold our suppliers to today.
1950
Our heritage isn't just a story — it's documented. In 1950, the Hangzhou People's Government Bureau of Industry and Commerce issued the business license that formalized the operation of the Zhang Xiaoquan Dajing Ji (张小泉大井记) shop in the new era. We still hold this document today.
In 1990, the store was honored as a "Hangzhou Distinguished Store" (杭州名特商店), recognizing decades of service to the city and its craft reputation.
Today
Registered today as Hangzhou Zhang Xiaoquan Scissors Store Co., Ltd. (杭州张小泉剪刀店有限公司), our store on Jiefang Road in Hangzhou continues to serve customers the traditional way — face to face, over a counter of carefully selected blades. But today, the larger part of our work happens behind the scenes: connecting international distributors and retailers with the best manufacturers in the Hangzhou region.
We combine on-the-ground supplier relationships, generational product knowledge, and modern export logistics to bring dependable tools and kitchenware to markets across five continents.
